Senator Yudichak Comments on Department of Health Nursing Home Plan

Harrisburg, May 12, 2020 – State Senator John Yudichak (I –Luzerne/Carbon) released the following statement regarding the Department of Health’s announcement today about their universal testing strategy for nursing home residents and staff.

“While other states were ramping up testing in nursing homes and were transparent in granting access to the public about COVID-19 deaths occurring in those facilities, Pennsylvania’s nursing homes had been forgotten about in our war against COVID-19. Nine weeks without a robust plan is far too long and over 2,000 deaths in nursing homes and personal care facilities are far too many, but I welcome the new universal testing strategy announced by the Department of Health today. With these resources, we can better protect our most vulnerable citizens and the people who care for them.”
