Why: Established on April 29, with funding partners, AllOne Foundation and Charities ($250,000) and the Earth Conservancy ($250,000), and planning partners, the Pennsylvania Health Care Association, LeadingAge PA and Allied Services, the NEPA Nursing Home SOS program was formed to protect nursing home residents and nursing home employees by deploying much needed resources to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our nursing homes.

Funding secured for the NEPA Nursing Home SOS Program has been used for the purchase and distribution of COVID-19 supplies in accordance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines. The CMS guidelines focus on three priority supply areas for nursing homes:

1.) Infection Control Supplies.

2.) Personal Protection Equipment.

3.) Symptom Screening Supplies.

The significant funding announced tomorrow from Luzerne and Lackawanna counties will help the program continue its mission of protecting our region’s most vulnerable citizens. To date, over 30 nursing homes have received over $300,000 in supplies through the program.
